Yet another update on the CLC Eastport Nesting Pram. The technique building this little boat is known as “stitch & glue”. Time for glass and clamps! (I’m banging this post out ’cause I’m swamped as usual)
But before that…..glue the daggerboard trunk to the hull and make a nice fillet between the the floor panel and panel 1 where the glass will lay.
Then lay out the fiberglass cloth, smooth it out on the surfaces, make a cut for the daggerboard and trim.
Then I poured out a bunch of un-thickened epoxy over the cloth and used a large plastic squeegee to spread it out so that all the cloth is wet but with no “pooling” going on.
BadaBoom!
Next, the outwales. This is where all the clamps come in. Each side has two 12x18mm pieces and the manual says to do each side at once put I opted out and did them one at a time.
Then Easter came around and I headed down to the farm house with Mom and Sis. I took homework with me and even got some wood to make oars. But our balustrade, if that’s what it’s called, needed some TLC…. a lot. Not only that, it was thirsty and went through over half a can of D1 penetrating oil! Anyhoo…it was great to get out of the city for a few days… and the oars are for another post.
Stay tuned,
Capt. Pete
ps….Happy Easter!

This is superb work – looking really good. And to manage it all inside of your apartment is awesome! Can’t wait to see her afloat 🙂

Pete, you are now entitled to a third engineering degree, in boatbuilding!!! I’m saying this because, after following this complex and demanding feat, if I ever get the urge to own a pram I’ll offer to buy yours :-). I see that you’ve also transformed you car trunk into a mobile repair garage.

Ha! That’s Kostas’ trunk! A post of its own!
I wouldn’t sell it to you. I like you. It has a lot of boo boo’s. I’m always mermering “it’s not a piano!”. Spoiler alert… the d trunk is crooked… don’t tell anyone!
